Rachel (Jennings) Adwell

Rachel Ann Adwell was born on March 17, 1931, in her family home in Tiline, Kentucky.  Rachel walked into heaven on February 3, 2024.  She is preceded in death by her husband James Lee Lanham Jr. and late husband Herschel Carter Adwell.

Rachel was a godly woman who loved her church, family, and friends.  She lived an extraordinary life full of many adventures such as traveling to forty-nine states, going on mission trips in her 70’s, and spent much of her time with family.  She will always be remembered for her 300+ hand-sewn Christmas stockings she created for those she loved.  Her last one was finished at the age of ninety-one.

Rachel is survived by her children Barbara Ann Silvey and husband Bill (deceased), James Lee Lanham III and wife Melody, Janie Evelyn Shelton and husband Wendell, stepchildren Mike Adwell, Dick Adwell, Margie Brown, Debbie Thacher, Herschel Adwell (deceased), Bruce Adwell, 26 grandchildren (1 deceased), 42 great grandchildren (1 deceased), and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She was beyond loved by all who knew her.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Old Salem Church Cemetery, with burial immediately following the service.
