Mrs. Edith Kathryn Brooks, 94, of the Lola Community of Salem, KY, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Rivers Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kuttawa.
Kathryn loved to quilt and cook. She had a great passion for flower gardening, but most of all she loved her family and her church family. Most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was the oldest member of New Union “Ditney” General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Rickey) Croft of Marion, KY and Denise McNutt of Auburn, AL; four grandchildren, Kristee Shoulders of Marion, KY; Chad Croft of Lexington KY; Chelsea Smith of Alpharetta, GA; Aaron McNutt of Marietta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Shoulders and Macye Shoulders of Marion, KY; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her loved husband and best friend of 72 years, Guthrie Brooks; six sisters; four brothers; and her parents, Carty and Nettie (McElmurry) Bebout.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 12 Noon, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, with Bro. David Davis officiating. Burial will follow in New Union (Ditney) Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, from 10 AM until the funeral hour, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or New Union Cemetery Fund c/o Vonda Todd. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
