Billy Truman Ramer, 80, of Paducah, KY, died Tuesday, July 2, suddenly but peacefully, at his
home with his wife Linda by his side.
He was born August 10, 1943, at home in the Bayou Community of Smithland, KY, to the late
Carnie Eugene and Mildred Ellen Mahan Ramer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years,
Linda, and two children Jean Ellen (Scott) Baker of Lebanon, TN and Jason (Miranda) Ramer of
Smiths Grove, KY; six grandchildren: Jolin (Janis) Gruznini of Lebanon, TN, Noah Baker of
Knoxville, TN, Emily Baker of Lebanon, TN, Brooks, Evelyn Kate, and Jude Ramer of Smiths
Grove, KY; sister-in-law Becky (Shayne) Green of Lake Jackson,TX; brother Neil (Vicky) Ramer
of Cecilia, KY; niece Amanda (J.R.) Tait of Lincoln, NE; nephews Andrew Green of Houston, TX
and Alex (Katelyn) of Georgetown, TX and cousin Marcille (Jeff) Gordon of Dickson, TN.
He attended Livingston County Schools and was a graduate of Murray State University. As a
versatile individual, he worked in banking, education, farming, and at Air Products/Wacker in
Calvert City.
Billy will be fondly remembered as a dedicated, welcoming, patient, thoughtful, caring and
remarkable role model, father and PaPa. He loved to travel, dance, heartily laugh, spend time
with friends, and he fiercely loved his family.
A celebration of his life will be held at Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services in Salem,
KY at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Interment will follow in Smithland Cemetery
Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1 pm on Saturday.
