James Lindley Sunderland

Mr. James Lindley Sunderland, 87, of West Paducah, KY, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Mr. Sunderland was a retired engineer and a veteran of the United States Army.  During his military time he served as an MP in Wurzburg, Germany. 

He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Miguelina Bermudez Sunderland of West Paducah, KY; son Michael Sunderland of Salem, KY; daughters Sonja Sunderland of West Paducah, KY, Wanda Sunderland of Evansville, IN, and Shelia Lindsay of Paducah; step-son, Francisco Vasconez of Ecuador; step-daughters, Maria L. Vasconez of Ecuador, Isabel Curtis of FL, Maria E. Azocar of Chile; and Miguelina Young of Paducah, KY; sisters, Lela Lester of Salem, KY, Charlene Sunderland of Burna, KY, and  Edna Edmiston of Paducah, KY; brother, Carmon Sunderland of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Valeria Vasconez, Bill Lindsay, and Henry Lindsay; and several nieces, nephews; great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, James L. Sunderland, II; sister, Wilma Hombing; brothers, J. C. and Glenn Sunderland; and his parents Charles and Lottie Myrick Sunderland.  

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services.   Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until the funeral hour on Saturday, August 31, 2019, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services in Salem, KY.
