Wayne Barnes Obituary

Wayne Douglas Barnes August 25, 1964 – March 24, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family of Wayne Barnes, beloved brother and youngest of seven children, announces that he passed away Tuesday evening March 24, 2020 at the home of our brother Edwin Barnes in Lola, Kentucky, after his battle with esophageal and lung cancer.

Wayne was born in Cocoa, Florida, to Paul and Iris Barnes on August 25, 1964, while outside Mother’s hospital window raged Hurricane Cleo, the first of countless he witnessed in Florida during his short lifetime. He graduated valedictorian of his class from Westside Christian High School in 1982 in West Palm Beach, where he spent most of his life. He was a respected and talented carpenter by trade and in his leisure time, designed and built every manner of furnishing; numerous homes and lawns are blessed with his cherished one-of-a-kind pieces. He was an expert diver- the Florida springs as well as deep sea, avid fisherman and hunter all his life. One of his favorite getaways was the wilderness of Florida, just he and his dog Dexter, living off the land for days, sometimes weeks- a true mother nature’s son. He was dearly loved for his sweet, gentle nature and will be deeply missed by all of us until we meet again.

Wayne is survived by his three older sisters, Sharon, Carol and Beverly, and his three older brothers, Roger, Edwin, and Richard, and his partner of thirty years, Lynn, their daughter Kayla and their granddaughter Cadence. Memorial services are being postponed until this uncertain situation in the country has resolved.
